Women buy life insurance policies more often than men: they account for just over 60% of contracts. At the same time, the average bill for men is twice as high - 344.5 thousand against 117.6 thousand rubles, respectively. These are the data of a joint study by Rosgosstrakh Life IC and Otkritie Bank.

Thus, women prefer mainly ruble-denominated products, which account for 95% of all policies issued by the fair sex. Men are twice as likely as women to conclude contracts in foreign currencies - US dollars and euros, experts say.

“When issuing investment-accumulative life insurance policies, almost 100% of female clients indicate a specific beneficiary under the policy, who, in the event of an adverse event, will receive savings. Beneficiaries under “male” policies were appointed only in 71% of cases. If an unfavorable event occurs, savings on policies without specific beneficiaries will be transferred to the legal heirs in six months,”the message says.

According to the study, other aspects of life insurance behavior between men and women do not differ much. The average age of insurance clients is 50 years for women and 48 years for men, the average insurance period is nine and ten years, respectively.

“According to the International Labor Organization, the fair sex in the world earn about 18% less than men. In Russia, the difference is even more noticeable and reaches 30%. This is reflected in the size of contributions to savings and investment insurance products. By investing a smaller amount, women also think less about diversifying their investments, while men tend to split their money into different “baskets” of currencies, leveling risks. In addition, male clients more often than women use financial analytics when making investment decisions,”commented Natalya Belova, director of market management at Rosgosstrakh Life IC.
