The number of weddings in Russia began to grow for the first time since 2014. In January-September, 6% more marriages were concluded in the country than in the same period a year ago. The most attractive for grooms and brides was July, which finally pressed August.
This trend is associated with the stabilization of the economy - those who did not have enough money for a wedding last year got married. However, the demographic situation does not give reason to hope for a further increase in the number of newlyweds. According to Rosstat, from January to September this year, 826 thousand new families were formed in our country, which is 6% more than last year. July was the absolute leader in terms of the number of alliances concluded. Then 150 thousand couples got married - the maximum figure for this month since 2012.
Yelena Filatova, head of the main department of the registry office of the Moscow region, told Izvestia that the summer months are always the most popular for wedding ceremonies. And in July, the number of marriages increases due to the celebration of the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity.
In the Novosibirsk region, registry offices registered 18402 marriages and 10908 divorces in 10 months of 2017. The Regional Civil Registry Office reported that the number of marriages increased by 192 compared to last year. It is noteworthy that Novosibirsk citizens are using the portal of state services more and more actively to apply for marriage registration. Over 10 months, 2,238 applications were submitted online. For comparison: in the same period last year, 1795 "electronic" applications were received by the registry offices. The Civil Registry Office recalled that from January of this year, when paying the state duty for services for registering marriage and divorce through the portal of public services, a 30% discount is provided.
For more than 250 couples of Novosibirsk residents in 2017, a celebration was organized on the occasion of the anniversary of married life, including 83 couples celebrated the golden anniversary, 47 couples in silver, 17 couples in diamond.
