Margaret Mussel from the American city of Brick, New Jersey, lost her engagement ring nine years ago when she was visiting relatives in San Marco dei Cavoti, Spain. Imagine the woman's surprise when, after so much time, the jewel was found in an unexpected place, UPI reports.
"We were visiting my relatives in Spain, and it was very hot. Probably at some point I decided to take off the ring, because it was a little too big for me. I never saw it again," Mussel said.
Margaret's husband Justin also could not remember at what point she lost her ring.
"My wife and I went on an excursion to Pompeii, and only the next morning she discovered that there was no wedding ring," said the American.
Margaret said that she was terribly worried about this, she was very ashamed. Soon she bought herself a new ring.
This summer, the couple again visited San Marco dei Cavoti. Suddenly, the husband of an American woman saw that something glittered in the asphalt next to the porch of the house.
"I shouted to Margaret:" Do you see this? Incredible, "Justin said.
"It seemed to me that my husband was crazy. However, looking closer, I also noticed the shine coming from the asphalt," said a resident of New Jersey.
Justin Mussel took out a screwdriver and removed the find from a pothole in the asphalt. This was the very ring his wife lost in 2008.
A New Jersey resident said she plans to pass on the find to her children.
