Bad Sex Award canceled due to the abundance of bad events in 2020. This is reported by The Guardian.

The jury of the award explained that the presentation of the prizes will resume in 2021. In his opinion, over the past 12 months, the public has faced too many negative phenomena. Also, with the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, fewer books have been published.

“Self-isolation is creating new types of sexual practices, so judges expect them to receive a large number of applications for the award next year. We remind the authors that virtual sex and other forms of home entertainment are eligible for this award,”said a spokesman for the Bad Sex Award.

In 2019, the award was presented to two writers at once for the first time. The victory was won by the Frenchman Didier Dekuen and the Briton John Harvey.

The Bad Sex Award was established in 1993 by Literary Review magazine. Over the years, Sebastian Faulkes, Norman Mailer, Salman Rushdie, Thomas Wolfe and Gabriel García Márquez received it.
