Vladimir Legoyda, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Mass Media of the Moscow Patriarchate, expressed regret that the former schema-abbot Sergiy (Romanov) did not repent of his deeds. The Russian Orthodox Church hopes that peace and a healthy church life will soon be restored in the Sredneuralsky nunnery.

In his Telegram channel, he noted that he had no doubts that the priests of the Yekaterinburg diocese would do everything possible for this. According to him, the church always prays for its children, especially those who have gone astray and gone astray.

“It is a pity that the former schema-abbot Sergius and his supporters did not hear the repeated calls of the church to repentance and correction,” he stressed.

Former schema-monk Sergius (Romanov) was charged under three criminal articles - of inclination to suicide, arbitrariness and insult to religious feelings. He was detained in the Sredneuralsky nunnery on Tuesday night. Searches were carried out in the monastery.

According to TASS, he attracted the attention of law enforcement officers because of a video in which Sergiy calls on his associates to "die for Russia."
