Emily Jameya, a sex therapist from the United States, studied what factors influence the quality of intimate relationships. The research is published in the journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy.

The expert identified four parameters that affect a person's level of sexual satisfaction. These are personal qualities - sensuality, curiosity, imagination - as well as the type of attachment in a relationship, if we are talking about an established couple. At the same time, sensuality, curiosity and the ability to fantasize are not directly related to sex and can be developed outside the bedroom.

The study involved 195 volunteers. In the questionnaires, they had to answer questions like "When you walk, do you realize how your body moves?", "How much are you inspired and carried away by dreams?"

People who were sensitive to their physical sensations, open-minded and often indulged in dreams of something pleasant, were generally more sexually satisfied than the rest of the participants. However, on one more condition - if they were in a healthy relationship and felt a reliable connection with a partner.

“Having a caring, supportive partner is a big deal. But what's interesting about the research is that we can develop sensuality, curiosity, and imagination outside of the sexual context so that we can have more pleasure in sex as well. This means that there are steps that people can take regardless of whether they have a sexual partner,”

- notes the author of the article.
