Elena Kiseleva, chairman of the commission on social policy and health, in an interview with Moscow Says, suggested that the reason lies in the large difference between the number of women and men. She noted that sex on the first date often ends unpleasantly.

“This is probably due to the fact that in St. Petersburg there is a significant excess of the number of women over the number of men. From all regions of Russia, this is my personal opinion, girls go to study much faster than boys, and many of them settle in St. Petersburg. Both boys and girls go to Moscow. It is difficult for me to assess the situation: we were taught a classical, perhaps already outdated morality. It was extremely courageous, very decisive, and I want to say from the height of my experience, unsuccessful for women, for men I don’t know. For girls, this is usually loss and suffering."

The MP noted that modern youth are more moral than in the “hippie era”: in her opinion, young people are very attentive to their relationships.

“The role of the authorities is probably to clarify so that these casual relationships do not affect health. In St. Petersburg, a lot of this is being done, including at the legislative level: that is, issues of contraception and educational work."

According to the results of the study, the largest number of supporters of an intimate relationship at the first meeting are men: 94 out of 100 people approved it. Among women, only 14% of respondents were in favor.
