1172 people took part in the survey. 29% of them admitted that they see their former love in a dream. And the current passion is only 25%. And here's another thing: only one in five respondents is resolutely ready to admit to a partner that he cheated on him while sleeping. Apparently, these lucky ones never talk in a dream, otherwise they would definitely not get away from explanations.

Ghosts from the past in dreams - is this really such a bad sign? “In general, it’s completely normal to have erotic dreams or fantasies about other people,” says couple therapy specialist Anne McKay. “This does not mean that you are ready to immediately throw yourself into someone else's bed, you just do not see the problem in having feelings for others” (especially if these others are Ryan Gosling and Channing Tatum).

But there is still another option. “The appearance of your ex in your dreams may mean that your feelings for him are not completely extinguished - be it tenderness or hatred,” says Terry Orbech, PhD, couples therapy specialist. However, even if your ex visits your dreams every night, your current romance is not doomed. “If you’re happy in a relationship, the ghostly ex-boyfriend is not a threat to them,” McKay said. "Rather, it's a sign that you haven't dotted the i's with him or that you feel guilty." Orbech recalls that dreams are an attempt by your brain to deal with thoughts that are not letting go of you, which may also concern your ex.

“And finally, maybe this is a reason to wonder if everything suits you in your current relationship,” McKay observes. So how do you know what's going on? “The best way is to try to assess how happy you are with your partner,” the expert continues. When everything is fine and the ex appeared in one accidental dream, most likely there is nothing to worry about. To summarize: if you really want to figure out why you are dreaming about your ex, you need to take a closer look at your current relationship - with your eyes open.

All you wonder - to be silent or to say? Orbech still does not recommend telling - unless there are significant problems in your relationship. Thinking about cheating? Do your dreams suggest the hardships of your romance? Then discuss them with your partner, but not your night dreams.

“If you decide to raise this issue, first think about how long you have been together,” McKay advises. “When you’re at the very beginning of a relationship, it’s not a good idea to talk about things that deeply affect you, because you don’t feel confident enough yet.” If you are in a stable, healthy relationship and are firmly convinced that such a conversation will not lead to an attack of irrational jealousy, go for it. Most likely, dreams about having sex with your ex, as well as about coming to work naked, are something that you would never want to experience in real life.
