On November 1, the entrepreneur was in the village of Anosino near Moscow with a woman named Sabina, Telegram channel 112 and StarHit report. In the bathhouse, where the couple was resting, unknown persons in masks broke into, the woman was tied up, and Marugov was shot from a crossbow. The woman managed to escape and call an ambulance and law enforcement officers. However, the doctors were unable to help the wounded. The suspects in the murder have already been detained.
It is known that the stepfather of the murdered man along with his wife, a housekeeper and a five-year-old son were also at the site. They were in the cottage at the time of the murder.

In July 2019, Marugov buried his son - Alexander, the son of an entrepreneur and poet Tatyana Marugova, died in an accident. It is known that the ex-spouses were in a tense relationship; they did not often communicate with their son Marugov.

The main investigation department of the TFR in the Moscow region confirmed the initiation of a criminal case on the murder, without specifying the name of the deceased.
